The Santa Clara Lions FC is an affordable program for mostly mid-level competitive soccer players and is part of the larger organization, Santa Clara Youth Soccer League, based in Santa Clara, California. Our teams compete in NorCal Premier and CalNorth soccer leagues (bronze, silver, and a few gold divisions) and mostly local soccer tournaments.

Santa Clara Lions, we play in mid-tier level competition and participate in local tournaments. Our teams are a step above recreation-level soccer, but not peak-tier competitive teams that compete in elite national-level tournaments.

With the Lions, recreation level soccer players can take the jump from recreational soccer and explore competitive soccer with professional coaching and a focus on player development of technical and tactical skills. We have a pathway for teams to grow all the way up to the gold level.

Commitment & Expectations

Competitive soccer with the Lions FC is a year long commitment (August-June).

Players are required to:

  • be interested in soccer
  • arrive on time
  • be excited about learning and growing as a player
  • follow soccer outside of training to help grow their understanding of the game both on and off the field

Parent/guardian involvement, in support of their players development, includes:

  • Teamsnap communication (app download required)
  • reading and responding to all club communication
  • arriving on time to all team practices, games and tournaments
  • soccer IQ (knowledge) through watching professional games

After registering to tryout an email will be sent in the weeks leading up to the tryout. Tryout windows in comp soccer are every 6 months in May and November.The email will provide specifics for the tryout.
